The NICE published draft guidance recommending the EndoSure test diagnostic technology. The test will be used in the NHS to speed up endometriosis diagnosis at the primary care level.
Endometriosis actually affects one in four women of reproductive age. Endometriosis currently takes an average of more than nine years to diagnose in the UK. This new non-invasive test offers primary care professionals a better tool to identify the condition earlier, without relying on specialist ultrasound expertise.
The EndoSure test will be paid for all women in the NHS during a three-year evidence generation period, with NICE reviewing progress annually.
Women's health is a priority for NICE. This draft guidance builds on the updated endometriosis guideline (NG73), fertility guideline (NG257), and two recently recommended hormonal treatments for endometriosis symptoms.
